MTI Strategic Reflections
Trust as a competency
Trust is rarely treated as a competency, but it is a powerful driver of decision making, motivation and therefore performance
Trust as a competency has two dimensions i.e. trusting (the other person) and trustable (confidence to the person entrusting)
‘Hardwired’ thinking and biases have a significant impact on how trust is created in one’s mind
Developing the ability to separate oneself from one’s thinking is the starting point of developing this competency. This involves ‘unlearning’ engrained biases built over long periods of time
Trust me, it can be done!
